“Mathematics Gives Freedom to the Mind”: The Success Story of Arman Asatryan
The latest hero in the “Success Stories of PhysMatsh School Students” series is 17-year-old Arman Asatryan, a silver medalist at the Zhautykov International Olympiad.
Why Mathematics
What I value most in mathematics is that it gives freedom to the mind. You start thinking beyond limitations and try to develop your own approaches and find new paths. Even if you do not solve a problem, the process of asking the right questions can take you much further.
International Olympiads
I began participating in Olympiads in 7th grade, when I first joined an olympiad club. Over time, I deepened my knowledge there and started achieving results, which brought joy both to me and to my country. I would like the olympiad movement in Armenia to grow further and for more children to get involved.
Olympiads not only provide knowledge but also create a competitive environment that pushes you to become stronger and better prepared. At the same time, they offer a friendly atmosphere—time spent together, team activities, and interactions make those days truly memorable.
Future Plans
My goal is to win a gold medal and increase the number of international olympiad participation. I also hope the olympiad movement becomes more widely recognized both in schools and across Armenia.
From an academic perspective, I am also interested in economics, and I would like to combine it with mathematics. I am likely to continue my studies in that direction, including abroad. However, my most important goal is to eventually return and use my knowledge to contribute to my country.
