From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the RoboChallenge 2025 International Robotics Olympiad took place in Bucharest, Romania — one of the largest technology competitions in Europe.
Armenia was represented by four teams from the Physmath School, two of which were formed with the support of private IT companies ROOT and Fimetech. This collaboration provided students with the opportunity to prepare for the competition in a real-world technological environment, while also sponsoring the participation of six students.
Participation of five additional Physmath students was funded by the Hovnanian Foundation, as part of its ongoing support for education and promotion of equal learning opportunities.
In total, around 167 robots participated in the competition — 92 from Turkey, 18 from Romania, 16 from Azerbaijan, 13 from Armenia, and 12 from Greece. Physmath teams presented 13 robots, all of which were fully designed and built by the students themselves, without using pre-made components. This approach carries great educational value, fostering engineering thinking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving skills. In contrast, approximately 80–90% of participants competed with pre-purchased and assembled robots.
Following the competition, the Physmath students had the honor of meeting Tigran Galstyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Romania. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for developing technological education and expanding Armenia’s representation in international competitions.
The PhysMath Friends Charitable Foundation continues to bring together efforts aimed at advancing STEM education in Armenia and creating new opportunities for students to gain international experience and exposure.
