PhysMath Friends Charitable Foundation continues its efforts to promote Olympiad education in Armenia. As part of these initiatives, we are launching a new series of personal stories highlighting the achievements of Physmath students in international Olympiads.
This time, the hero of our series is 16-year-old Sargis Arakelyan, who won a bronze medal at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held in Australia in 2025.
Why Mathematics
I have loved mathematics since early childhood. When I was admitted to the Physmath school, that interest grew deeper and stronger, and I decided to continue developing in this field.
International Olympiads
I prepare for international Olympiads mainly through Olympiad clubs at Physmath. Experience in international Olympiads is extremely important, as it provides a valuable opportunity to learn from students from other countries. Many of them are stronger in mathematics, and there is still room for us to grow. Preparing for Olympiads requires constant practice and a strong commitment to self-improvement. In the future, I aim to win a gold medal.
I think that if you truly love a subject, it is definitely worth participating in international Olympiads. They are not only an interesting and enjoyable experience, but also an important first step toward achieving major success.
Future plans and dreams
I see my future in science, particularly in the fields of physics or mathematics. At the moment, I am considering studying abroad.
