From September 20 to 27, 2025, the International Astronomy Olympiad was held in Sochi, Russian Federation, with the participation of the best teams from dozens of countries. The team of the A. Shahinyan Physmath Specialized School of Yerevan competed with five talented students and achieved outstanding results.

Our students won 3 gold and 2 silver medals, while in the team ranking they were second only to the Russian team. This is yet another victory for PhysMath students, proving once again that Armenian schoolchildren can compete with the best in the world.

🏅 Gold Medalists

  • Gor Hasratyan – Class of 2025, 1st year student at YSU

  • Natali Margaryan – 12th grade student

  • Ruzanna Shiroyan – 12th grade student

🥈 Silver Medalists

  • Bagrat Bagratyan – 12th grade student

  • Anahit Galstyan – 12th grade student

The team was led by Artavazd Harutyunyan, head of the school’s Astronomy Olympiad club, whose dedication and consistent work greatly contributed to this success.

All expenses for the team’s participation were covered by the “Physmath Friends” Charitable Foundation, one of whose key priorities is the development of Olympiad education in Armenia.

This achievement once again highlights that professional support and commitment can lead to remarkable results.

Physmath will continue on this path—educating the future scientists and innovators.
