Edgar Baghmanyan, the latest feature in the “PhysMath Students’ Success Stories” series, believes these qualities have played an important role in his journey. In July 2026, Edgar won a bronze medal at the 56th International Physics Olympiad. What particularly attracts me to physics is the challenge of solving problems. I especially enjoy the thinking process involved in finding a solution. Another important advantage of PhysMath, in my opinion, is the school’s active involvement in the Olympiad movement.

The Olympiad Club and Competition Experience

I joined the Physics Olympiad Club in 10th grade, which has given me the opportunity to study physics in greater depth. Over time, I also began achieving results in competitions. I believe Olympiad clubs play an important role in helping PhysMath students succeed by deepening their knowledge and developing the skills needed for Olympiads.

In my opinion, curiosity and hard work are the most important qualities for achieving success. Participating in Olympiads has taught me to think quickly, manage my time effectively, and work under pressure. It has also taught me not to give up when a problem does not work out on the first attempt, but to keep looking for a solution.

Experience in International Olympiads

Before the International Physics Olympiad, I had participated in the International Zhautykov Olympiad. Winning a medal brings me great joy and pride, especially when I think about all the work I put in to achieve that result.

Future Goals

My future goals include winning a gold medal and continuing my education in physics or engineering.

My advice to students interested in Olympiads is not to be afraid of challenging problems and not to give up when something does not work out at first. It is important to be patient, solve plenty of problems, and learn from your mistakes.

Curiosity, hard work, and a passion for solving challenging problems can open the door to great achievements.
